'In any land what is there more glorious than sunlight! Even here in the desert where it falls fierce and hot like a rain of meteors, it is the one supreme beauty to which all things pay allegiance ... The chief glory of the desert is its broad blaze of omnipresent light.'

Birds of Spring

Harris Hawk, watercolor, 14' by 20', framed 22' by 28'
This spring and the early summer months have been full of excitement and wonder about all the birds growing up in our backyard. There were young hawks and kestrels, flickers and gila woodpeckers, thrashers and cactus wrens. And of course, the brilliant little sparks of hummingbirds. Those may inspire a series...but it began with a Harris Hawk.
